Castes of Gor

The Pillars of Gorean Society

GCS - Port Cos

On Gor, caste is more than profession — it is identity, duty, and the foundation upon which every city stands. Each caste carries its own traditions, colors, expectations, and place within the social order. Together, they form the living structure of Gorean civilization.

The GCS Engine recognizes and supports the full caste hierarchy, allowing regions, players, and systems to align themselves with the lore‑accurate framework that defines Gorean life.

High Castes

The High Castes hold responsibility for governance, law, knowledge, and the stability of the city.

• Initiates

Keepers of spiritual law, ritual, and the mysteries of the Priest‑Kings.

• Scribes

Masters of record, law, diplomacy, and written knowledge.

• Builders

Engineers, architects, and craftsmen responsible for the physical strength of the city.

• Physicians

Healers, herbalists, and medical practitioners trained in the arts of the body.

• Warriors

Defenders of the Home Stone, sworn to discipline, honor, and steel.

Low Castes

The Low Castes form the backbone of Gorean daily life — trade, craft, labor, and survival.

• Merchants

Traders, shopkeepers, bankers, and all who move goods across Gor.

• Metal Workers / Smiths

Forgers of weapons, tools, and the iron that sustains the city.

• Cloth & Leather Workers

Tailors, weavers, dyers, tanners — the makers of garments and gear.

• Fisher & Maritime Caste

Sailors, boatmen, and riverfolk of the Vosk and Thassa.

• Peasants

Farmers, growers, and the “Ox on which the Home Stone rests.”

• Slaves (Kajira / Kajirus)

The lowest caste, yet essential to Gorean households, trade, and culture.

Outcasts & Others

Not all who walk Gor belong to a caste.

• Outlaws

Those who have no Home Stone, no city, and no protection.

• Free Companions

Partners bound by honor rather than caste.

• Travelers & Foreigners

Those who come from beyond the walls of the city.

Caste Integration in the GCS Engine

The GCS Engine supports caste‑aligned:

  • Skills
  • Permissions
  • Crafting paths
  • Roleplay systems
  • Visual identity (via the Core Color System)
  • Module interactions
  • City‑level governance

This ensures that every action — from crafting to combat to civic duty — reflects the caste‑driven structure of Gor.

Port Cos & the Caste System

As a Port City of the Vosk Delta, Port Cos thrives on trade, river commerce, and the strength of its castes. The GCS Engine integrates seamlessly with Port Cos’ civic identity, allowing citizens, visitors, and roleplayers to experience Gor as it was meant to be lived:

Built on system. Driven by choice. Lived in Gor.
